Twilight star Nikki Reed has revealed she’s engaged and set to wed her new man, American Idol alumni Paul McDonald, after just three-and-a-half months together!

The pair, who met at the US premiere of Amanda Seyfried movie Red Riding Hood on March 8, announced their engagement at the MTV Movie Awards yesterday, with defiant Nikki declaring, “He’s the one!”

Insisting, “I love him and I don’t care,” about fan comments regarding how fast the pair has moved with their engagement, 23-year-old Nikki, and Paul, 26 – who made it to the final eight of the most recent season of American Idol – showed off her ring on the MTV red carpet and revealed they’re already house-hunting together.

“I’ve never met anyone like him,” Nikki told People, last month. “I’ve never met anyone who has such a good solid heart and comes from such a good solid family and is just a genuine person. We have the exact same sense of humour.” Adding, “I’ve never laughed so much with anyone as I do with him.”

And Paul repaid the compliment, spilling of his new fiancée, “[Nikki] is super cool, man. She’s [a] super smart, really cool girl. I’m happy about it.”

But not everyone in T-town is thrilled for the couple, with sources spilling Nikki hasn’t been happy ever since Robert Pattinson ditched her for Kristen Stewart after the first Twilight movie wrapped back in 2008.

“That hurt her a lot,” spilled a pal. “She acted strong in public at the time, but it killed her.” Adding, “A few if us are wondering why she’s moving so fast with this engagement – she barely knows the guy and she’s only 23! Something is driving her and we’re not sure it’s real love.”
