Jonathan Rhys Meyers was released from hospital Wednesday afternoon after an alleged suicide attempt, the U.K. Sun reports.
Responding to an emergency call, paramedics reportedly found the Tudors star crumpled on the floor of his Maida Vale, London, home Tuesday evening. Sources told the Sun that Meyers refused treatment for more than half an hour, forcing the emergency responders to call the police and take the 33-year-old actor to a nearby hospital.
“This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life,” said one insider, adding they believe Meyers overdosed on pills.
A spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed to People that paramedics responded to a call from Meyers’ house.
“We were called by the London Ambulance Service to an address in NW8 to report to a man refusing treatment,” the spokesperson said. “Police attended, and the man was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital. That was the end of our involvement.”
