Several tornadoes slammed the western and central Massachusetts on Wednesday, leaving a path of destruction, the ruined buildings, flipped vehicles and left at least four people were killed and an unknown number wounded.
At least three tornadoes struck the city of Springfield, Mass., alone, with a fourth unconfirmed Twister possibly touching down in the city, Mayor Dominic J. Sarno said. Many of these storms also blew up the areas surrounding the city with a population of more than 150000 inhabitants, located 90 miles west of Boston.
According to the National Weather Service, there were seven reports of tornadoes touching down in Massachusetts on Wednesday.

Twisters hit unstable weather threatened throughout the Northeast, resulting in a tornado watch in Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Golf Ball size hail reported from New York to Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire, while thunderstorms produced wind gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour throughout New England.
The situation in Massachusetts was so bad that Governor Deval Patrick announced the state of emergency, calling up to 1000 members of the National Guard.

Two of the four deaths in Massachusetts occurred in West Springfield, and there was no one in Springfield and Brimfield, the official said, correcting earlier official statements.
Peter Judge, Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), reported ABC News, that as of early Thursday morning was about 50.000 with no power.
“There is a very serious injury – we know about urban neighborhoods that are not there more houses that have lost roofs,” the judge said.
“It was obviously an incredible surprise … we have been monitoring the weather throughout the day and by early afternoon, nobody was too concerned … but in the evening, some clouds started to appear,” he added.
tornado on Wednesday were the worst outbreak in the state since 1953, when 94 people were killed by tornadoes in central Massachusetts. The last deadly tornado state was in 1995.
