The First World War was a messy affair. If there was little movement as compared to World War Two, the fighting was equally fierce. Trench warfare was dominant feature of the Great War. The trenches have been compared to hell on earth. Shown below are trenches as well as other dramatic pictures from the Great War. Shown are the British soldiers.
