Rick Springfield, a Malibu resident, and the singer of the 1981 hit song “Jessie's Girl” was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of drunk driving, according to a press release from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.
The release states Springfield had a blood-alcohol level of .10 percent. Drivers with a blood-alcohol level of .08 and higher are considered legally impaired in California.
“Rick Springfield came to the attention of a patrol deputy from the Malibu/Lost Hills Station as he accelerated rapidly from Heathercliff Road in his 1963 Corvette while driving on Pacific Coast Highway,” the release from the sheriff's station states. “Mr. Springfield was stopped near Trancas Canyon Road, and exhibited signs of alcoholic beverage intoxication. He was administered field sobriety tests, which indicated his driving was impaired."
