Australian cricketer Brett Lee is all set to enter Bollywood with the movie “Victory”, starring Harman Baweja in the lead role.
Besides Brett Lee, a handful of other cricket players like Australians, Brad Hogg, Stuart Clarke and Mike Hussey and Indians, Yusuf Pathan, RP Singh and Pravin Kumar have cameos in the film.
Harman Baweja plays the role of a small town boy who makes it big in the world of cricket and Brett Lee plays himself who helps Baweja’s character achieve his dreams.
On working with newcomer Harman Baweja, Lee says it was a whole new experience. “It was a lot of fun. We helped each other out throughout the movie. I taught him a few shots while he gave him me acting tips,” he recalls.
Apart from claiming wickets, Lee shares a passion for music. In the past he did a song and music video for legendary singer Asha Bhonsle’s album.
Next on the anvil, Lee is adding finishing touches to a music video. “There are six to seven songs in Hindi and in English in the album. I had been working on it with friends for the last six months,” he reveals

Udita Goswami is shocked. And this has nothing to do with her stint in Bollywood. In fact this time around it is sheer lack of sentiments from people which has left a bad taste in her mouth.
The story goes like this. Apparently a few days back she came across a stray puppy near her apartment. Seeing it cry in pain, she enquired about the owner but realized that there was none. Also, from her fellow neighbors, she was informed that the puppy was in such a stage for last many days.
"And to think about it, no one came forward to help it. How could people be so insensitive? I was shocked by people apathy", exclaims Udita who is an avid dog lover and already owns three dogs.
"On inspecting it further, I realized that she was unable to walk at all. Apparently there was some internal injury which had resulted in her being immobile.
I was almost in tears when I carried her to a doc and requested him to inspect her further", details Udita who promptly took the puppy home and made her a part of her extended family of dogs.
"I started nurturing her and in a matter of two days, she was on her feet - Literally! I keep joking with my friends that perhaps she was just acting all this while because she was destined to join my family. Otherwise what else describes her miraculous recovery in 48 hours flat", laughs Udita.
"The dog is now closer to two months old but she is already bullying her much 'senior' three dogs at my place. It is fun to watch them squabble over minor things. In fact I have also hired a trainer to make sure that my four dogs are well behaved", says Udita with a smile.
"Well, the funny part is that instead of the dogs being trained, I am being trained instead on how to understand what they want and to make them understand what I am looking from them.
In any case, I am not looking at 'Tommy, fetch this' or 'Mambo, sit down' kind of commands for them. I want us all to talk and understand a common language and it comes so much handy when I reach back home after a hard day at work."
Talking about the work front, Udita is currently acting in two films - 'The Man' and 'Fox'. Incidentally both the film stars Sunny Deol in the lead though Udita is not wiling to disclose whether she is paired opposite him in any of the two films.
While 'The Man' sees her in a special appearance, 'Fox' features in a full fledged role. The films are directed by Sunny Deo/Neeraj Pathak and Deepak Tijori respectively.

It seems Shah Rukh Khan started the trend and others are happy following it with glee.
Some time back Shah Rukh Khan was seen waist down in a bathtub full of roses as he gave the world of advertisement a new definition by facilitating a role reversal of sorts.
Instead of a woman endorsing a beauty soap, something which has been a trend for decades (and would hopefully remain so in time to come), Khan enjoyed the attention of beauties around him as he soaked himself in wet rose petals.
Now Rahul Bose too has followed suit and done so the same at the behest of Mallika Sherawat. However, this time around, it is not done for a commercial but the film Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam.
For one of the romantic numbers in the film where Bose has tried to demonstrate his six-packs for quite some duration, Rahul and Mallika have shared some cozy moments together. However, it is disappointing for quite a few since instead of Mallika, it is Rahul who enjoys all the pleasures of being treated to a rose petal bath!
The song in question is 'Marmari Bahen' which is the only bon fide romantic track in Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam. Sung by Shaan and Mahalakshmi Iyer, the number reminds of many a romantic track that Mallika has been a part of since her KHWAHISH and MURDER days.
Also, she has gone ahead with a holds-no-bar approach in the song as she proves to be quite an eye candy in her revealing costumes.
No wonder, it must not have required Rahul much persuasion to join the show!
Directed by Sanjay Chhel, Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam is touted to be a riotous comedy which also features Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon other than Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat. A VENUS production with music by Anu Malik, the film is looking at a 22nd August release.

During an interview to television channel recently, Aamir Khan had admitted to enjoying only one film in last few years and it was Anees Bazmee directed No Entry. He had even further said that its unfortunate that no one nowadays offers him such a whacky film.
We found out that just weeks after that interview, also having seen Welcome, the selective Aamir Khan himself approached writer - director Anees Bazmee for role in his film. He expressed his wish to star in comic caper written and directed by him.
An excited Bazmee states, "I was pleasantly surprised and at the same time thrilled when Aamir called expressing his desire to act in a film by me. I had a subject in mind for Aamir.
I then narrated him that story and he even liked it. But, it was a very serious subject. Aamir in turn wanted to to a comedy film with me. So that particular project didn't work out!"
Bazmee further adds, "Aamir is known to work only with complete bound scripts and I am known to never work with one! He actually rightfully asked me to give him a bound script and I am one director who does not believe in bound script.
I have an habit of making last minute improvisations in the script on the sets at times as I am never really satisfied with what I have written before.
If fresh ideas come to my mind then I implement them on the sets itself. So I never really end up bothering to write down a complete bound script." with new ideas.
So I never got down to writing a script. I get frightened sitting alone amidst a lot of white papers while writing a script! But direction is more enjoyable as one is surrounded by various people from varied background. Perhaps thats the reason I have still not been able to write that one bound script for Aamir till now."

Remembering 'Voice of India' contest winner Ishmeet Singh as a 'wonderful', 'down-to-earth' and 'sincere' person, members of the Indian music industry said they were shocked by the drowning of the 'dynamic singer' in the Maldives.
The 19-year-old, from a middle-class family in Ludhiana, Punjab, had gone to the Maldives for a promotional event with the music company with which he had a contract.
The singer left Mumbai Tuesday morning for the Maldives, where he was to perform Aug 1. However, he drowned Tuesday in a swimming pool at a beach resort.
Music composers Jatin Pandit and his brother Lalit Pandit, who co-judged Ishmeet on 'Voice of India' (VOI), told they were shocked by the news of Ishmeet's death.
Jatin said: 'I am shocked. He was an innocent boy. Ishmeet always had it in the back of his mind that he had to be the 'VOI' winner.
I had even been to his house in Ludhiana and had food with his family. I know everyone in his house. I can't believe he is no more. If he would have continued with the same zeal, he would have made his mark in the industry.'
Lalit revealed that he was working with Ishmeet on his album that is still in the composing stage and said the young singer's death 'is a very sad and terrible action of fate'.
'Ishmeet had recorded a song for one of his albums with me and it had turned out very well. I will see to it and ensure that the song is released and his voice reaches the people of India. His death has totally shocked me, ' he said.
Lalit blamed the organisers 'who send such young and talented singers abroad for shows'.
'I am sure there must have been a lapse in security, ' he added.
Ishmeet had Nov 26 last year won the 'Voice of India' singing contest, pipping his closest rival Harshit from Uttar Pradesh in a keen contest. He was given the winner's trophy by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar.
Supporters of the singer voted heavily for him from Punjab during the finals of the contest. Even though Harshit led the votes tally in most regions of the country, the final count went in Ishmeet's favour due to heavy voting from Punjab.
Harshit, who was close to Ishmeet, said: 'It is so sad. I was to perform with Ishmeet on the forthcoming event and was about to fly out on July 31 from India. I wish I was there with him so that such an accident could have been avoided.'
'He always did the right thing in life and I hope God pays him well for his good deeds. May his soul rest in peace, ' he added.
Monty Sharma of 'Saawariya' fame met Ishmeet just 15 days ago and the news of his death has come as a blow to the music director, who is currently judging the second season of 'VOI'.
'I met him for a show in Kolkata. I am shocked to know about him. He was such a down-to-earth and a simple person. I think he was very dynamic as a singer and the country has lost a good voice, ' he said.
TV anchor Mandira Bedi was shooting when she heard of the news and she was left 'aghast'.
'I don't know what to say. Shocked is the word. He was a really wonderful person and an equally good singer. I was confident that he would have a bright future ahead.
But this news is really sad, ' said Mandira, host of the recently concluded music reality show 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar' from which Ishmeet was eliminated before the final round.
Rumours are rife that one of the hottest couples in Bollywood, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is heading for splitsville. The final blow to their relationship came in the form of the spat between Salman and Shah Rukh Khan on Katrina's birthday.
After splitting from his former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai, Salman had finally cashed in all his emotions on Katrina, but he seems to have lost her too as she is quite upset with him. Industry sources said Katrina is no mood to forgive him for his behaviour with Shah Rukh on her birthday which attracted much media attention.
The sources said that after the incident Salman and Katrina are not on talking terms.
'Katrina is blaming Salman for the entire episode, ' said a common friend.
Katrina opined that Salman should have restrained himself as he was playing the host. 'But certain things are not in anyone's control and it is destined to happen, ' Katrina told a leading TV channel in an interview.
A close friend of Salman said: 'He is good at heart. He took initiative for the party to please Katrina. But everything went wrong.'
Salman and Katrina's relationship was already going through a rough patch. Katrina's ambition is the reason for Salman's anguish. The British-born actress has long stopped taking his advice regarding her professional life, which irked the actor.
Salman, who is known for his hot temper, had objections to Katrina's choice of films, her co stars and even the outfits she wore for some films.

Rosa was heart broken after been dumped by our hunky Saif. She started keeping a very low profile (obviously who won’t), but then again we saw Rosa attending fashion shows, events, premieres, and partying late at nights.
We thought she was quite strong to handle everything by herself. Lesser we knew someone else (who was very close to her) was also there to lighten her problems as well as give her the shoulder.
Yes, Rosa seems to have found solace in someone’s arms. Now who this someone is a mystery. The only thing known about him is the fact that he is not from Bollywood.
Through our sources we came to know that the lucky guy is someone named Chetan Gara. So when we asked about him from Rosa asking if she is in a relationship with him, Rosa’s voice deepened (as if she’s been caught). She said she is in a meeting (please note: she had told us that she is at home in the beginning of her conversation) and added that she can’t talk before hanging up.
Hmmm…We really wonder why is Rosa playing this game of hide and seek with us. She should learn something from Saif who openly told the world about his relationship with Kareena.
For the time been we would like to inform Rosa that playing hide and seek with us won’t matter much because sooner or later that person’s identity will be revealed (as it happens in the end of every game).

Celina Jaitley is presently busy making wedding plans for her brother but she is livid at the rumours of linking her with her Money Hai To Honey Hai and Chai Garam co-star, Govinda.
The ex-Miss India denying the rumour states, "We both are good friends and that's all I can say.
We worked together in Money Hai To Honey Hai and he was involved in my surprise birthday party celebrations on this film's set that is why may be perhaps we have been linked. People have already said so much about us.
But now that I am doing Aditya Dutt's Chai Garam with him, people will say we are going to have kids soon. I simply do not understand these link-up rumours business! Earlier when I did steamy scenes with Aftab Shivdasani in Red, that time how come no one linked us.
I have not even held Govinda's hands in the film let alone being with him anywhere else apart from the film sets. I am paired opposite Aftab in Money Hai To Honey Hai."
Celina has busy year ahead to look forward to. She is eagerly looking forward to Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns, Mukta Arts three films. Manohj Tiwari's Hello Darling, Paritosh Painters Paying Guest and one more venture.
There is Aditya Dutt's Chai Garam, Tigmanshu Dhulia's next and Sunil Darshan's forthcoming project. Her list of films does not end here.
She has two English films Love Has No Language and Quest Of Shehzaad added to her long list of films too now.

Lately, the issue of "nut-free" baking has been cropping up in my life. Specifically, people without nut allergies in their families who volunteer to do nut-free baking for my child, (for a party or dinner.) My daughter recently attended a party that featured two adorable summer cakes: a sand castle cake and a watermelon shaped cake. The mom who made them is a wonderful lady and she offered to make them "safe" for my daughter. But I told her not to worry--I'd bring a treat. I felt a little bad, but I know they have peanut butter in their house. So I skipped it.
I did an entire post on "nut-free baking for the non-allergic" awhile back and in theory, it can be done. But, deep down, do we, as "nut-free moms" trust other people to "get it?" I've been examining this idea and I'm sorry to say, I'm not sure that I do.
There are just so many variables. Do the bakers use peanut butter--is it in their house? Did the spoon they used to mix the batter previously touch peanut butter? Were the baking tins washed thoroughly enough to remove all traces of allergens? How about the oven? The cooking surfaces? The cutting boards, mixing bowls, etc. The other ingredients--did someone stick a knife in peanut butter and then a knife in the butter? And on and on it goes.
There's a scene in the episode of the PBS series "Arthur" where Binky Barnes had nut allergies. He has a nightmare about dealing with his food allergies and, when questioning the cafeteria lady (I forget her name) about a food, she says: "It was made with an egg from a chicken who once dreamed of a peanut." I sometimes feel like that's how I'm coming across, but I really feel like I have to be completely satisfied with how someone prepared something before my daughter can get a bite.
I personally feel squeamish when someone else bakes something that my daughter ends up eating--though she has done so, without incident, such as homemade (so good!) pumpkin pie during visits to my in-laws at Thanksgiving. VERY occasionally she'll have a piece of homemade birthday cake at a party of a close family friend who has been over all the details with me. But that's pretty rare.
What about all of you? Do you trust informed people to bake for your kids? Or just skip it all together? I'd love to hear your feelings on this.
BTW, THANK YOU to everyone who participated in my tag. It was fun!

No one could anticipate that a star-studded birthday party of Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif would turn into a battle of the two Indian super stars - Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan - dividing the industry into two camps.
The two superstars were caught in a war of words on the July 16 party that Salman threw for current girlfriend Katrina, which later turned ugly.
Salman was reportedly instigating Shah Rukh from the beginning of the party by speaking about their reality shows - "Dus Ka Dum" and "Kya aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?" respectively. Salman claimed that his show "Dus Ka Dum" had garnered more TRPs than Shah Rukh's, said sources.
Salman scoffed at Shah Rukh by saying that in spite of being a super star he could not make his show a hit.
Shah Rukh initially did not pay any heed to Salman's comments. The final blow came when Shah Rukh made a comment on Salman's ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai, inviting a furious retaliation from Salman.
The incident occurred late in the night, when many of the guests had left.
Though Aamir Khan tried his best to resolve the dispute that arose between Salman and Shah Rukh on Katrina's birthday party, the two are not in a mood for compromise as both have got the support from their well wishers in the industry.
Salman, who is known for his loyalty towards friends, got supportive calls from old time friends like Kareena Kapoor and Akshay Khanna, said sources.
Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan also showed their concern for the actor by calling him.
Ranbir Kapoor, who worked with Salman in "Saawariya", was the only newcomer to jump into the camp fight by calling him to express his sympathy, sources added.
If Salman had his supporters, so did King Khan. Veterans like Yash Chopra and Javed Akhtar called Shah Rukh to enquire about the incident. Besides, Karan Johar, Sajid Khan and Farhan Akhtar once again proved their loyalty towards the actor by offering their support.
Kunal Kohli also called the actor to know about his well being.
"While Salman has the support of actors, Shah Rukh has the support of the directors. It's an advantage for Shah Rukh, " remarked an industry watcher.
The star-studded birthday party of Katrina Kaif was attended by Bollywood bigwigs like Aamir, Kareena, Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Rajkumar Santoshi, Kunal Kohli, Salim Khan, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Nikhil Advani, Prakash Jha, David Dhawan, Anees Bazmee, and Manmohan Shetty, among others.

Maybe there is on one in this world who doesn’t believe in kismet but for that single reason you can’t blame or over emphasize the issue of kismet. But the story of the film depicts little more.
Just like any other Bollywod flick, in this film also, Raj (Shahi Kapoor) and Priya (Vidya Balan) meet each other. But despite feeling love for each other the only thing they develop for each other is pure hatred.
But see the kismet connection hidden in such a chemistry which turns bad luck of Raj, who has been fighting for getting a better work for last five years in the field of Architecture, into a good one. Raj comes to his fortune teller Hassena Banu Jaan (Juhi Chawla) and describes everything to her.
Banu tells him that Priya is his lucky charm and for a better future he should always take her with him to wherever he goes for his job.
Raj agrees on it and takes Priya to a meeting with Batra & Gill, a company that wants to construct a shopping mall. But soon Raj comes to know that the proposed mall is going to be made by demolishing Priya’s community centre.
Priya helps Raj without having any idea about what’s going on. But as soon as Raj gets the project, the reality comes into open for Priya.
For the sake of love Raj proposes Gill (Om Puri) for building the combination of shopping mall and community center but Gill denies it.
At the end of the story Priya’s kismet helps Raj once again and Mr. Batra (Boman Irani), friend to Priya and partner of Batra & Gill, accepts Raj’s proposal of making the shopping mall beside the community centre.
Shahid must remember that audience’s expectation regarding his characters in films has touched the sky after the success of Jab We Met and he must accept films keeping that in mind only.
At the same time he must avoid playing the stereotype characters. On the other hand Vidya has tried her best to live the life of her character but unfortunately the character, especially her outfits, hasn’t suit her level best.
I guess she must not attempt this kind of characters. Juhi Chawla is excellent in the character of Hassena Bano but the lose bangle in her hand made audience think about possibilities that forced her wearing it.
Few scenes with Vidya made us realize like Juhi’s jewelries are put on Vidya. Om Puri and Boman Irani are good as usual. Himani Shivpuri proved with two scenes that character maybe small but it has to be strong. There is nothing to talk about other characters of the film.
Despite its length of 2 and half an hour, the film seemed longer and unusually slow. Aziz Mirza has chosen beautiful locations but he better has understood that beautiful locations cannot make beautiful films. Music and lyrics are not to the marks.
Expectations of watching a good film may drag a lot of audiences to the theatre but they better know in advance that the film has nothing extraordinary to offer the audience. People will surely fail to connect to the film, if not to the stars.

Priyanka was shooting in Miami for Karan Johar's romantic comedy Dostana. And she had a ball.
"I've worked with Abhishek and John before. But never like this. Their bonding is infectious. Dostana was one big party. It's a beachside sporty film. And I'm very much a water babe. The director Tarun Mansukhani's is new but his wit sparkles. He's written a really urbane tongue-in-cheek comedy."
So has she changed her mind about wearing a bikini? "The producer Karan Johar didn't ask me to wear a bikini. And I wouldn't be comfortable in one. But this is a beach movie. So it's only natural that I get into beach-wear. And I don't mind at all. Because everyone else will be wearing even tinier clothes."
Priyanka Chopra can't stop raving about the new love in her life.
"No, his name isn't Harman. It's someone called Boo, a pet robot teedy-bear who accompanies me everywhere in Love Story 2050. He's all pink and the cutest creature on earth. I want to take him home."
Explains the actress, "I was aware of Boo from the time he was conceived. It was Harman Baweja's sister Rowena who thought of Boo. I don't think it'd have happened without her. I've watched Boo acquire a life right in front of me. So it's quite an exciting process."
So attached has Priyanka become to Boo that she wanted to carry him home after the shooting. And the Bawejas who've watched Priyanka stand by their project from the time Kareena Kapoor opted out, would be only too happy to let Priyanka have Boo.
Says Priyanka, "This was one film that's filled with gadgets and electronic toys. But Boo is special. Because he's mine. Love Story 2050 is my second hi-tech film after Krissh. And I'm doing one more Drona.
But Love Story was special because I did my career's first double role with two different looks for the two halves set in two different periods. Boo was part of my futuristic look. I feel this film carried sci-fi in India to another level."
Interestingly Love Story 2050 will be followed by another FX-motivated adventure saga Shankar's Robot. Priyanka had been signed for it when it was a different set-up with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
"When FX turned a corner with Krissh I was part of it. Now when it somersaults with Love Story 2050 and Drona I'm part of both.Am I proud to be in these projects, or not?"
Wow! That was my only reaction when I caught a glimpse of all transformed and re-invented Amrita Rao on the covers of the fashion magazine ‘Verve’ this month. The petite-girl-next door has finally changed her ways for better and looks nothing less than a glam diva with sensuality pouring from her eyes on the pages of the magazine. Her painfully delicate frame just makes her perfect.
The girl has had much happening this year with Bollywood films, Pakistani video and a superhit movie in south as well. No, wonder there is a glow on Amrita’s face!

Yesterday I got a post that said I was "tagged" on a cool food allergy site, The Allergic Kid. So now I'm officially "it." The Allergic Kid is a great blog dealing with multiple food allergies and it offers some yummy recipes, too. Try it, you'll like it.
According to the rules of engagement, if I agree to being "tagged," I have to list 6 random things about myself as well as listing 6 other food allergy bloggers I enjoy.
So to start off, here are my 6 random facts:
1. I have teenage girl-style celebrity crush on British actor Colin Firth--I even have a Colin Firth mousepad.
2. I am the tallest girl in the class--almost 6 feet in ballet flats!
3. I love to read/buy old cookbooks in used bookstores.
4. I actually like the Jonas Brothers' music (side effect of having an 8-year-old or in the middle of my second youth???)
5. I'm an aspiring author.
6. I've been to Graceland in Memphis, TN four times.
Here are 6 nut allergy/food allergy blogs that you should know about:
The Allergic Kid
Food Allergy Buzz
Peanut Allergy Kid
Allergy Life in Loudoun
Modern Allergy Mom
Kids Food Allergies Blog
Now, for those of you I "tagged," if you'd like to go along with this imposition, here are the rules:
- Link to the person who tagged you.
- Post the rules on your blog.
- Write 6 random things about yourself.
- Tag 6 people at the end of your post.
- Let each person know you tagged them by leaving an entry on their blog.
- Let the tagger know when your entry is up on your blog.
Thanks to Libby on The Allergic Kid for tagging me. It was fun!
P.S. I got another e-mail from the "gourmet retailer." I'm so much trouble that they transferred me to PR. I'm supposed to hear back from their PR people any day now! :)

Due to the posts I received, I can see I'm not alone in my frustration with regard to food labels. Jennifer B of Food Allergy Buzz was exactly right when she suggested the "gourmet retailer" had the initials W & S in their name!!
I have sent them a follow-up e-mail and am waiting for a response.
Now, to be a complete "motherly type" I want to remind everyone about the fact that school is starting soon (I know, I know! Like you need reminding ...) and we all need to update our EpiPen prescriptions. My daughter needs several at school and several at home and a bunch of her Epis just expired. So I thought I would give a little reminder to all of you.
Luckily, I have so many that we're covered. And for everyone that has moved, like me, don't forget the new Medic Alert bracelet with updated info. My daughter's new school requires one, in fact. (A good thing, I think.)
OK, that's all for now. I'm on a writing deadline!

Sorry to say, I did not get a very satisfactory response to my e-mail query on the confusing food allergy labels I encountered recently. Their corporate customer service e-mailed me that, in order to get information about a specific product, I need to ask the retail stores what is in their food.
Well, actually that's not what I asked. I didn't want to know about specific products, necessarily. I can read a label--so can all of you. We're skilled in that. My question to the store was: how do you go about determining what allergens you list on your labels? They chose not to answer that. Also, I highly doubt that the retail store workers would have the knowledge I was looking for, that is, how is the food processed and who determines how it's labeled a certain way and why.
So I am posing the question to them again and see what I get.
Just thought I'd let you know! Also, what's up with all the gluten-free stuff at Trader Joe's? I'm glad they are acknowledging gluten allergies but almost everything at TJ contains peanuts or tree nuts. And I love that place. Just be careful when you shop there...it's super-nutty!
Well, that's a whole other story! :) Hopefully, I'll get to the bottom of the allergy labels at the "gourmet food and cookware retailer." Everybody probably knows who that is, right?
Wish me luck! And all of you who are speaking up and asking questions at stores and restaurants, THANK YOU! We are making progress, I'm sure of it.

OK, I do appreciate companies that label possible food allergens, but I'm starting to get suspicious about some of them.
Here's what set me off most recently: I received a bunch of BBQ spices from a popular gourmet food/cookware retailer as a gift last weekend. Each spice blend was emblazoned with a label claiming that it was processed on equipment that had previously come into contact with ALL of the "top 8" food allergens.
This same store sells colored sugars (for decorating cakes and cookies) that are also labeled as coming into contact with ALL top 8 food allergens.
Call me crazy but since when does colored sugar get processed on the same equipment as shellfish???
I think you probably know where I'm going with this. Fearing liability, certain companies are now proclaiming that all of their food products contain every top food allergen in an attempt to scare off allergic consumers. In other words, they are not reporting responsibly or truthfully on the contents of their foods. They are including allergy labels only to exclude allergic consumers. They don't wanna get sued, people, and so they're taking it to the extreme.
In a response to one of my previous posts, one mom said a similar situation happened to her at Olive Garden restaurants--they claimed that all of their food may contain peanuts. Unlikely??? You bet. But there it is. Who among us wants to take the risk? Still, I think we're being taken for a ride.
I've got an e-mail into the gourmet retailer quizzing them on their allergy labels. I'll let you know what they say.
Frustrating! We don't want to be uninformed about potential allergens but some of these places are taking it too far. And it feels discriminatory to me.

Nut-Free Mom Newbies--Welcome to Our Nutty, Wonderful Community!
0 comments Posted by org at 10:11 AMOver the past several weeks, I've received several e-mails and blog comments from mothers who are facing new peanut and tree nut allergy diagnoses in their young children. Even though I've now been in the "trenches" of food allergies for more than 4 years, I still vividly recall how I felt when I first found out about my daughter's life-threatening allergy to nuts.
It was one of the scariest times of my life. I felt certain that I wasn't cut out for the job. The first year I had a roller coaster of emotions. One day, I'd be very optimistic about handling my daughter's health problem. The next day, I'd feel so negative about the whole thing I wondered how our family would ever be normal.
Here's the good news for all of you facing this for the first time: you can do this. There is nothing like a mother's love to override obstacles. I'd be willing to bet that all of you will dig deep inside yourselves, like I have, to make sure that you give your child their best possible life despite the fact that you have to watch their every bite of food.
You'll wake up one day and realize that having a food-allergic child does not seem like such a crisis. You'll know you can do it and your child, as they get older, will be able to cope and have confidence, too.
My best advice is to stay positive. My allergist always tells us to keep life as normal as possible--even while we have to be cautious. Travel, eat in restaurants, go places. Let your child go to Girl Scout camp or stay overnight with a friend.
Of course, you have to take precautions. You can't be lax and everybody--teachers, grandparents, babysitters and other parents of the kids your child plays with will need to know how to use the EpiPen. But if you teach your child how to stand up for themselves and how to avoid certain foods, that's half the battle already.
The resources I have listed to the right of my blog have been invaluable to me in this journey and for those of you new to nut allergies, I suggest you take a look.
The other big thing to remember is that you're so not alone. When I first discovered my daughter's food allergy, it seemed like nobody was very familiar with it. Now it's rare if I meet someone who doesn't have at least some experience with it. Things are changing for the better, but we still have to be vocal for our kids.
I welcome your comments and suggestions for this blog and wish all of you the best of luck as we work through the "nut allergy maze" together.

The seventies blockbuster movie Amar Akbar Anthony’s remake will be made by the famous comedy director David Dhawan. The news says that the role of Amar, Akbar, and Anthony will be played by the Khan Brothers Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail.
The original movie Amar, Akbar, Anthony was made by late Manmohaan Desai. It is very difficult to make the remake of this blockbuster movie but if David Dhawan made it possible then it will be really a big achievement for him. This film is counted as one of the favorite film of everyone so David is quite nervous to direct that wonderful film and it is really a great challenge for him. According to David, Salman will play the role of Anthony, Arbaaz that of Amar and Sohail will play Akbar in the movie. Salman’s girlfriend Katrina Kaif will play the role which was done by Parveen Babi in the original film. Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna had done such a wonderful work in the original film that it is very much difficult to copy it. One more negative point in the remake is that Sohail and Arbaaz are not so popular in the acting field. So now we have to see how David Dhawan will remake this great movie? So before accepting this challenge to remake this film, David needs to remember the remake of Ram Gopal Verma’s Aag!

As its becomes the trend for the actress in the Bollywood to have the zero size figure like Kareena Kapoor who had already got fame for her zero size figure. But our hot and sexy Woodstock Villa actress Neha Uberoi thinks something different about the zero size figure.
According to her, looking beautiful, hot and sexy is good but to get the zero size figure some actress went to hunger strike which is not good. But I am not so possessive toward my figure. I do work and eat what I like. Beside this I don’t believe in hunger strike for looking sexy. I believe beauty lies in eyes and one need to feel fit and fine to maintain her figure nothing else.
Listening to Neha’s opinion about the zero size figures we hope that many other actresses’ needs to follow Neha advice.

By now the verdict at least in the reviews, is clear. Harry Baweja's ode to the future and to his unmistakably-gifted denbutant son has been savaged by critics.
"I can't understand the viciousness with which my film has been received," harassed Harry says two days after the release.
"I don't know why the negative backlash. Of course people are entitled to an opinion. Whether they find the film cool or not is up to audience. But I've succeeded in at least one-half of my motive for making Love Story 2050.
I didn't only want to make film that audiences will like, I also made it to launch my son. And everyone loves Harman. So at least I've succeeded there."
Harry feels there are factors working against the film. "I've never seen anything like this happen before in all my years as a producer-director. I've made unsuccessful films. But never one that has been so severely savaged.
If my film is so bad why did it get such a spectacular opening? Over the weekend we got Houseful in most places.
There's a wrong perception being created about my film. Why pick on me like this? I shattered right now. I can't think straight."
As far as the films inordinate length goes, Harry and his son Harman have taken a decision to reduce the film's length.
"Yes I agree with that. We've already taken care of that. We realized people were getting restless in the second-half. So we've cut about ten minutes of the film in Mumbai from Friday evening.
By Saturday morning we had made the cuts all over the country. The film has been released in 720 theatres. You can't handpick 20 theatres to prove your point. But I haven't lost the battle yet."

Saif's relationship with Kareena just went to another level.
Last week while she was visiting Saif and the unit of his first production in London Kareena bonded big-time with Saif's parents who were also there.
Says a member of Saif's sprawling production unit, "Kareena looked after Saif's parents as she would her own parents. And it wasn't put-on or done to impress them, or Saif. When she feels affectionate towards people she gives unconditionally."
And Kareena is unarguably the first of Saif's lady-loves whom his parents have taken to so wholeheartedly and unconditionally.
Says a source from London, "Kareena has always been an extremely affectionate and warm girl. It wasn't the least hard for her to bond with Saif's parents who immediately took to her in a way they've never done with any of his earlier companions."
Says Saif from London, "It's true. My parents met Kareena here in London and they really got along well. My parents completely adore her, and not because they respect the space she occupies! Oh no! If they disapproved of her they'd certainly make their displeasure clear."
What Saif leaves unsaid is that his parents, one of them totally non-filmy, have disapproved of his earlier relationships.
"But they adore Kareena, " he says a tad wistfully from London since his ladylove left London for Los Angeles some hours earlier. "My dad think she's lovely. That makes two of us."
With Saif's parents thoroughly approving of their future daughter-in-law, one of the major hurdles in the way of the marriage has been solved.
Now all Saif has to do is win over Kareena's parents. A process that he has already started.

With Independence Day just passed, most of us have our summer plans and kids' activities in full swing. So I wondered how it's going for you? How have your food allergy plans been working at camp, play dates, swim lessons, day care and other activities outside of the home? Have you skipped anything or modified anything due to your child's food allergies?
For example, I enrolled my daughter in an activity that had the option of having them stay for lunch. They had sessions with or without the lunch option, but the program stays the same. (For the record, the organization has a strict No Peanut Butter policy.)
I decided to have her attend the "no lunch" session almost without thought. It just seems easier to me, especially since school is such a constant struggle with food issues all year long. Later, I wondered if maybe I should have let her do the lunch option (it would have kept her there an extra hour each day--and we moms know how much we crave that extra hour!) but I didn't want to even introduce the risk. That just feels better to me.
The good news is we're going out, doing the things we want to do and have incorporated caution into our lives so much already that it doesn't seem like a big deal to skip certain foods or modify certain activities like the one I just mentioned. That's gotta be good, right?
I'm curious to know what other compromises you've made this summer and how they've worked out for you.
Music Composer: Anu Malik
Lyricist: Amitabh Verma
Singers: Shaan, Mika Singh, Anmol Malik, Anu Malik, Anushka Manchanda, Ishq Bector, Dibyendu Mukherjee, Vasundhara Das, Mohit Chauhan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Krishna, Hard Kaur
Ratings: ***
Comedies don't always have great audio tracks, but there are exceptions. And 'Ugly Aur Pagli' is one of them. Anu Malik's compositions are young and vibrant without sounding too mushy or immature.
Ishq Bector of 'Aye hip hopper' fame seems to be the flavour of the season. He sings 'Karle gunah ankhiya milake' along with Anushka Manchanda.
The track is a Punjabi-cum-Hindi one with shades of rap and hip-hop. It is fun, playful and peppy and singers do complete justice to the song. Kudos to Anu Malik for making it an interesting piece!
Next is 'Shut up aa nachle', which is sung by Anu Malik, Vasundhara Das and Dibyendu Mukherjee. It has a Latin flavour to it and lyrics by Amitabh Verma are in Hinglish. While Vasundhara's voice is very soothing, Anu's rendition doesn't really match up.
'Talli main talli ho gayi' is a sure shot dance number. Rendered by Hard Kaur, Anmol Malik and Mika, the song has a mix of Punjabi-Hindi lyrics that are innovative and good-humoured.
As soon as you see Mohit Chauhan's name on the credits of 'Yeh nazar aaye jaaye', you know the song shouldn't disappoint. No doubts, the singer has rendered yet another commendable piece that boasts of romantic music and lyrics.
'Yeh nazar aur ye' follows - an absolutely peppy and sprightly track. And Sunidhi's vivacious rendition does complete justice to the composition. It is a love piece that has a contemporary touch to it. While it is not a chartbuster hit, it won't sink without a trace either.
'Ugly Aur Pagli' offers enjoyable music and the songs have a special zing in them. It definitely makes for some interesting hear.

Distance has finally taken its toll on Amrita Arora and her London-based English cricketer Usman Afzal. The couple mutually decided to go their separate ways after their strained realationship for the past few months.
Says a source close to the actress, "It was a difficult break-up as both had been very committed for the last four years, but it was inevitable."
Amrita, though, tried hard to work out this relationship as she loved Afzal a lot but it wasn't meant to be. There were no huge fights and melodrama but a quiet acceptance that both were now headed in two different directions.
In an interview, the actress also confirmed the break up reports saying that the reports were true but she didn’t feel like talking about it.
However, unlike the other glamorous break ups where a change of hearts often takes place, distance between these ex-lovebirds seems to have ruined this love affair. Besides the distance, Amrita’s alleged link up with upcoming model Sahil Shroff had reportedly not gone so well with Usman.
Things turned further ugly when Amrita took off to shoot for a flick on Usman’s birthday.
A close friends says, her only comfort is that her best friend Bebo is also there with her. As someone who's had a long relationship break-up, the girls have something in common. Bebo is helping her cope as she understands what Amu is going through
Amrita has now immersed herself into her work. She has got good releases like Golmaal Returns and Kambakht Ishq and now wants to concentrate on her work. It seems it's a career decision as much as a personal one.

It’s a beautiful dream for those who love living in the dreamlands only; but what about the audience who are quite bored with repetitive Bollywoody love stories!
Karan Oberoi (Harman Baweja) is the only son of famed businessman Mr. Oberoi (Dalip Tahil). Karan is not happy with his father as because his father is more interested in cars, business and achievement than his only son. Being very lonely and having the thought in mind that his unfortunate accidents would bring no loss to anyone, Karan always prefers to play with danger. In the course of the mundane story, Karan meets Sana (Priyanka Chorpa) and for obvious reasons (love, I mean to say) they decide on getting married. And here comes the twist. Sana meets an accident and she dies leaving Karan all alone.
Boman IraniOn the other hand the Love Story has Karan’s uncle, Dr. Yatinder Khanna (Boman Irani), who by profession is a scientist. Dr. Khanna has been working on a time machine for last fifteen years so that he can poke into the future to how the things will change (obviously).
Karan meets Dr. Khanna and recapping Sana’s dream about entering the year 2050, they go to the year 2050 with the time machine. Entering the future Karan comes to know that Sana is now the best rock-star of the world living in Mumbai and is named as Zaisha. Ultimately Karan succeeds in getting his love, Sana alias Zaisha, back to the present with the help of QUTY and BOO, two robotic dolls taking care of Zaisha.
Harry Baweja has beautifully taken care of direction as well as the story but at some places the story becomes little slow. Music and lyrics of the film looks nice but at the same time it appears little difficult to say that songs will look something like that with flying cars in the year 2050. Priyanka has worked well in accordance with her character. Whether Harman’s resemblance with Hrithik is a bane or boon is a quiz immaterial but his impact on the screen is quite impressive. Boman Irani has depicted his character quite well. Archana Puran Singh looks good in her character of Priyanka’s mother.
Lovely Couple Priyanka Chopra and Harman BawejaThe first part of the film is based on the love story between Priyanka and Harman and the funny thing is the second part of the film is also based on their love story. The only difference is the second part happens in the year 2050.
Coming to the much hyped special effects, Harry has proved it a mark in Indian film history but it’s quite difficult to say whether the world, especially Mumbai, will look somewhat like that in the year 2050. This possibly is the first Indian film that marvels in special effects and people seem really amazed but at the same time few people are inclined to believe it a copy of some Hollywood flick. Being neutral it’s better to buy both the opinions. One funny thing is, even in 2050, corruption remain our inseparable characteristic. On the other hand the robot snake shows the fatal future of today’s reptiles (?).
PosterQUTY and BOO show the great creative status of the director but the size of BOO is little small than what people have expected it to be. The film, flaunting a budget of fifty crore, must have earned a cool amount from Lux and Lawman. At the same time, the brand owners must be feeling good thinking about how their brands will be famous among stars even in 2050.
Well, it’s time to say adieu to you all but before signing off it’s better to say that you must watch the film once to witness Harman’s acting, special effects and not to forget, Mumbai in 2050.

Cast: Imran Khan, Genelia Dsouza, Ratna Pathak, Manjari Phadnis, Anuradha Patel,
Jayant Kriplani, Alishka Varde, Nirav Mehta, Ayaz Khan, Karan Makhija, Sugandha Garg, Prateik Babbar, Renuka Kunzru, Naseruddin Shah; Director: Abbas Tyrewala; Rating: ***1/2
The film “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na” has as expected teenage energy, college gang, love, comedy, romance, emotions and music that is lovely. The film is an entertainer with a predictable story line that starts with a low pace and the climax is unsurprising but a few moments and fun parts are impressive. The salient feature of the film is that nothing has been overdone and things have been made to look real and grounded.
The performance of the debuting star Imran looks patched up at the start that improves as the movie proceeds and Genelia looks sweet (she too need to improve on performance) and Prateek Babbar (son of Smitha Patil) as Genelia’s brother gets noticed in the small role.
The film depicts the changing social culture that has single parents, broken marriage relationships and kids suffering unprotected childhoods that make the children responsible and even irresponsible in young age. The so called “cool parents” trying to be with their kids and parents who do not want understand their kids’ problems.
The title “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” is basic story of the film. The film has two college going youngsters Jai and Adidti and both don’t know that they are in love and they are made to know it by circumstances. Both are completely different from other, Aditi is rich and angry and Jai is least furious rajput and belongs to a middle class family. They both want perfect life partners for themselves but on meeting people of their dream they realize that they are in love with each other.
The film has a college gang of vie, Jai, Aditi, Jignesh Patel, Sandhya, Shaleen and Rotlu , where teenagers share their emotions and have fun together. The films show the cute relationship of mother Savitri (played by Ratna Pathak Shah) and son Jai and a talking photograph of Jai’s father and comedy scenes like the sequence of brothers Bhaloo and Baghera.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Abbas Tyrewala who turns director from this film. The presentation of Imran is impressive and costumes of Imran (by Fashion designer Ashley Rebello) make him look cool (look like his uncle Aamir Khan) and he matches the role. Even the costumes of Genelia are notable.
The music of the film is luminous and energetic, by A.R. Rahman. Imran can not be compared to Aamir, he needs to improve but the movie is about a gang of youngsters and complete focus of the film is not on Imran that saves him.
The film will has its drawbacks that may not help it to be a blockbuster but it will definitely call college goers to multiplexes.

Good news for those who have been missing Mallika Sherawat’s super hot onscreen kisses! The lady is back in the ‘murderous’ mode again with several lip-locking scenes in upcoming film ‘Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam’. The hot babe is paired opposite ‘unconventional’ hero Rahul Bose and they share many intimate scenes in the film.
Earlier, the duo was seen in the well-received film ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’, where they scorched the screen with their sizzling scenes, hot kisses and scorching chemistry. They are to do ‘it’ again in Sanjay Chhel’s ‘Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam’.
“Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam” is a mad riot involving a drama troupe - Kalakar Natak Company that produces socially relevant plays, which no one understands and nobody sees. Mallika plays the role of an unscrupulous upcoming actress. A parody of the song, ‘Pyar kiya to darna kya’, has also been filmed on Mallika, which is said to be one of the highlights of the film.
Director Sanjay Chhel, who has already won accolades for dialogue writing in ‘Partner’, is leaving no stones unturned for “Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam”. Rahul Bose is to essay six roles in the movie. He is to play a daredevil officer of an intelligence agency, Mughal prince Jahangir, an underworld don, a Nawab from Hyderabad, dumb deputy of a gangster and also a don’s bodyguard.
After ‘Murder’ and ‘Khwahish’, in which Mallika’s ‘oomph’ factor took Bollywood by the storm, here is another film that is sure to make our filmdom ‘kiss crazy’!
