Bipasha Basu Topless in New York Lotto ad
Forget the Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre commercial. Cyberspace is now feeling the heat of a New York Lotto commercial that was shot by Bipasha Basu and Vivek Oberoi. YouTube uploads mention that the commercial has been directed by Ken Nahoum. The art direction has been done by illustrator Tommy Kane and it was shot in India.
Needless to say, the ad is very bold in terms of Indian standards and, hence, apprehensions remained about whether the actors had indeed shot for it. Vivek’s spokesperson said, “We can’t get in touch with Vivek and hence, can’t comment on this issue. We don’t have any idea about this ad.”
However, Bipasha’s manager confirmed that it is indeed the star, who has been featured in this ad. “Bipasha had done this ad in 1999 when she was modelling for Ford Modelling Agency in New York. It was done as an international assignment and was meant for the international market. I don’t know why such an old ad has surfaced now,” said Bipasha’s manager.

Priyanka Chopra received critical acclaims for her varied avatars in ‘Whats Your Rashee?”. Now, bong beauty Bipasha Basu is set to enthrall the audience with her nine different looks in forthcoming ‘Pankh’ produced by Sanjay Gupta’s White Feather Entertainment and directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyay.
The story of ‘Pankh’ revolves around the life of a child actor who grows up thinking he’s a girl. The film is based on a true story of child actor Ashish Channa, who played a pivotal role in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Vastu Shashtra’. Ashish’s mother would often pass her off as a boy only to get her to work in smaller and bigger screen.
Talking about the movie, the director says, “I think Pankh is mainly an urban film. The theme that we have touched in this film identifies more with the sensibilities of the urban dwellers. May be in a few rural areas the film might be appealing. But, I have always maintained that this film touches upon a subject that is way different that you see in usual mainstream films.”

Bipasha Basu, who now looks forward to multi-starrer comedy "All The Best", has dismissed rumours that her role in Mani Ratnam's "Raavan" was cancelled because her character posed a threat to the other actresses - Aishwarya Rai and Priyamani. She insists it was an amicable decision between her and the director.
Asked how her co-star was as a producer, she said: "He is a very good producer. He in fact gifted me a Blackberry apart from giving me the money for the film. With her sultry appeal, earthy beauty, diva-like attitude and va-va-voom figure, Bipasha Basu was the ideal choice to play the imaginary woman who colours the male protagonist’s fantasy in Pankh.
Director Sudipto Chattopadhay says, “Bipasha does not play a real human in Pankh. She is a figment of the Jerry (the protagonist)’s imagination; an alter ego that he creates. She is neither a ghost nor a human but a fantasy who fits into Jerry’s emotional mood and psyche at a particular point of time. She has 13 personalities in the film which is one up over Priyanka Chopra’s 12 characters in What’s Your Raashee? I had written the characters with Bipasha in mind and I was delighted when she agreed to do the film as she liked the script.”In case you are wondering how long the film is, fret not as it will only take 100 minutes of your time.
He is all praise for Bipasha’s acting prowess. “All the diva-like personas are larger than life. So, her body language, costumes, make-up and hair had to change with each of them. Bipasha has done a remarkable job in the film. She walked an extra mile for it and agreed to do it in spite of it being a radical film instead of a commercial one.”
Sudipto hasn’t seen too many of Bipasha’s films. “I haven’t seen all her movies but I liked her work in Jism; she held her own in Apaharan and was brilliant in Bachna Ae Haseeno.”
About his debut feature film, he says, “Pankh isn’t an arty film. We have made it for a sensitive, emotional audience who will understand the plight of the child-actor protagonist. Cross-dressing is a common phenomenon in Bollywood and it creates a lot of confusion in the child’s mind. We want to show how cross-dressing destroys a child’s life.”
Pankh stars Bipasha Basu, Lilette Dubey, debutants Maradona Rebello and Amit Purohit, Ronit Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Mahesh Manjrekar.

What do you get when you cross a hip hairstylist with a banned Mexican cartoon character? Sapna Bhavnani as Speedy Gonsalez. The Speedy Gonsalez Show is the hairstylist’s answer to boring music-based reality TV. Here, she gets artists from the indie music scene to take on disguises for a riot in front of the camera. Each episode is about 5 minutes long and is uploaded on the group by the same name on Facebook at 9.09 pm every Monday.The first episode of the show was uploaded a week ago, and has Suman Sridhar (from Sridhar/Thayil) as Ms Sassy and her guitarist Arijit Datta as Blind Lemon Govardhan. The 4.5 minute video sees Bhavnani host the show as Ms Sassy, and Blind Lemon Govardhan perform not just the song but their characters as well.
The second episode has Ankur Tewari (from Ankur Tewari and the Ghalat Family) playing a French character who joins Gonsalez in drooling over women. “The idea is to show our talented musicians from the independent music scene, in a different avtaar. They can leave the serious performances for stage. With Gonsalez, they’re just having a good time,” says Bhavnani, who pulls off a brilliant drunk Mexican woman chaser.Since the videos are uploaded on Facebook, there is serious uncensored dhamaal that doesn’t get beeped out. The host and guests are seen taking swigs from bottles of beer, instead of sipping on tepid coffee. “The show is made in the true spirit of freedom of speech.There is no thought given to TRPs, neither is the script pre-written. It’s all impromptu. Of course, a bit of alcohol solves any kind of inhibition problem,” says Bhavnani. That’s what the 640-odd fans seem to be enjoying the most about the videos. Bhavnani intends to bring on Bipasha Basu. “Speedy is in love with Bipasha. She’s a good friend of mine too. So let’s see… we might just have her on the show soon.”

Bipasha Basu will finally get to abuse in Sanjay Gupta’s Pankh, as the censor board has okayed director Sudipto Chattopadhyay’s demand to use the ‘F’ word without any beeps or deletion.
Pankh has been in a battle with the censors since the past 6 months, starting with the film’s content, abusive language and nude scenes. Starring newcomer Maradonna Rebello, Bipasha Basu and Lilette Dubey, the film is reportedly based on the case of child actor Ahsaas Channa, who's apparently a girl passed off as a boy in movies like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Vaastu Shastra.Earlier the censor board had created a hue and cry about Maradonna’s nude scene in the film, in which he was supposed to bare his butt in the climax. Mardonna had told StarBoxOffice earlier, “The scene is crucial to the climax of the film; it’s not vulgar and has been handled very tastefully. While I did have my apprehensions before doing the scene, Sudipto has portrayed it so well, that I’m sure the audience will connect to the emotions portrayed by my character in the film.”
While the censor board was on a scene chopping spree and even gave the film an A certificate, Sudipto was hell bent on having the word F*** used twice in the film without beeps or deletion. He explained to the press saying, 'Bipasha plays protagonist Maradona’s alter ego. She fights as well as supports him throughout the film. She says f*** during one of the scenes where they are at loggerheads. She tells Maradona, ‘You are f***** up in the head, that’s why you want to f*** me.’
The censor board has finally relented and has allowed the words to be used, Sudipto is naturally ecstatic and this will be the first time a Bollywood actress will say the F word on screen without any beeps or deletion.
If you think about it, isn’t the industry going through its series of firsts, well better late than never!
