From what I know, I'm pretty sure that a cockatiel feels like she's being threatened basically if someone or something goes near her cage area. Her cage is like her little area, and allowing your budgies to play and go and use her cage is not acceptable(no matter how adorable they are) it isn't going to coerce your cockatiel into liking your budgies or for that matter start liking you for giving her a friends to play with. If your birds are tame enough, I would suggest letting all your birds play in a neutral area and giving out treats or toys that everyone would like.

My Budgies and Cockatiels have bonded well enough for me to understand that they can live together and be friends, they are actually sad that they live in separate cages and only get to play together, but every bird has its own needs and desires.

Pet Birds are the topic I specialize in and hence I can tell you a lot about them, some people may feel that keeping a bird as a pet at home is cruel, but it is not, you are actually helping those Cockatiels, Lovebirds and Budgies, or even the larger cockatoos, Macaws and Parrots. These pet birds do not really like living at the pet shop, they want to be in loving homes where the whole family can take care and make the bird feel like a human and part of the family. These pet birds for long have been bred in captivity and hence they do not know the true meaning of freedom and have lost the ability to fend for themselves, catch food or forage for food and live by their own in the wild, so for home bred birds, it is vital for them to end up as pets.

These are my two Lovebirds, both are called Lucas or Twin.See My Birds to view all my Pet Birds.

I have a lot of Pet Birds and I try to give them the best quality life that I can give, so should all.

My Pet birds are the most awesome pet birds you can find, they are very friendly, tame and really really cool, they listen to whatever I say, at least what they understand and although they do not do any tricks or talk, they are still my best friends. So many people asked me how my Lovebird and Cockatiel get along so well, while their birds fight, a LOT! The thing I tell them is to have patience and have a look out of the Birds always when they are together, also it depends on the personality of the birds too.My birds are really friendly so it works out for me, it may not work out for you though.

Give the birds some time as well as space, let them get to know each other, do not directly stuff them in a cage and expect them to become best friends like magic, there are no tricks to make birds to like each other, just give them open space and let them get to know each other, they will become friends, do not worry, If you have any questions about pet birds, please ask me, I am ready to help.

This is a video of my pet birds together happily.
