What a contrast! Newlyweds Zara and Mike back in old jeans as they join Autumn, Peter and baby Savannah at Gatcombe
0 comments Posted by org at 12:11 AMIt's been just under a week since they were sipping champagne in their wedding finery as they celebrated their marriage at Edinburgh's Holyrood House.
Today though, wedding gowns and morning suits were swopped for some rather more practical bootcut jeans and navy polo shirts as Zara and Mike attended the first day of Gatcombe Horse Trials.
Joining Zara's brother Peter and sister-in-law Autumn with their baby Savannah, the group gathered to watch the opening day of eventing at the Gloucestershire festival.
What a difference a week makes: Battered bootcut jeans with Timberland's and trainers - and is that a hole, Mike? The two join Autumn and Peter Phillips for the first day of the Gatcombe Park Festival of Eventing
Relaxed: If Zara was at all nervous about her upcoming competition on the final day of eventing this Sunday, she showed no sign as she chatted with family and friends
Mike took time out from training with the England rugby team to attend the event with his new wife, who is to compete at Gatcombe herself on the final day of eventing on Sunday 7 August.
The Queen's granddaughter will ride for the last time on her 'horse of a lifetime' Toytown, as the gelding, who has suffered a series of injuries, is to be retired after Zara's event.
Eighteen-year-old 'Noddy' will be paraded in the main arena at 1.45pm on Sunday, so that his fans can pay tribute to the legendary white-flecked chestnut horse.
Happy couple: Mike and Zara are together again for the first day of the Festival of British Eventing after their work schedules meant they spent the first few days of married life apart
Scrub up well: Mike looked dapper in his suit when he married the Queen's granddaughter, Zara, in Edinburgh, while Zara looked beautiful in her magnificent Stewart Parvin gown
Any nerves Zara is feeling about her upcoming competition went unnoticed today though, as the former World Champion looked relaxed in the sunshine with her family.
Autumn and Peter, who will almost certainly attend Gatcombe on Sunday too, played the doting parents role as they took turns to bounce a delighted baby daughter Savannah on their knee.
The two looked every inch the loving family as they played with the little girl, smiling broadly as they passed her between one another.
It recalled the scene outside Holyrood House last weekend, when Autumn swung her giggling daughter into the air, planting a kiss on her cheek.
Doting: Autumn and Peter Phillips took turns bouncing their daughter Savannah on their knees as they watched the action at Gatcombe Park this afternoon
Relaxed: The three Phillips looked every inch the family unit as they attended the event today
All smiles: The scene recalled the family moment outside Holyrood House last week, as Autumn and Peter played with a delighted Savannah

Zara's wedding plans full steam ahead as mother Princess Anne visits the church
0 comments Posted by org at 12:33 AMPrincess Anne has secretly visited the Scottish church where her daughter Zara
will marry Mike Tindall, 32, on July 30.
will marry Mike Tindall, 32, on July 30.
Anne made the trip last weekend to Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh as Zara, 29, hired party planner Peregrine Armstrong-Jones to help organise the event.
‘Anne arranged to be in Scotland as the plans get under way,’ a source said.
But I’m told there is discord over Zara’s invitation to her godfather Andrew Parker Bowles. The ex-husband of Prince Charles’s wife Camilla dated Anne in 1974 and last summer reports suggested the romance had reignited.
‘It makes it awkward for Zara’s father Mark Phillips and Anne’s husband Tim Laurence,’ says a source.
Prince Harry's African charity is putting its party plans on ice because they clash with his brother’s wedding.
Sentebale, which supports orphans in Lesotho, is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.
Harry, who is travelling to Dubai next month for his Sentebale Polo Challenge, had planned to host a star-studded gala for the charity’s birthday on April 28.
But with the responsibilities of being best man he is having to postpone the event.
‘There are talks about toasting the success of Sentebale a little later on in the summer,’ I’m told.
‘Harry is determined to have a huge party to celebrate but it’s bad timing with the wedding.
'Right now the only party he’s planning is William’s stag, which will be a weekend away in the country.

She is a brisk sort of girl, and a great believer in just gritting her teeth and getting on with things. But this weekend, as she prepares to compete in an eventing World Cup qualifier in France, Zara Phillips is beset by crises.
Firstly, her beloved and extraordinary horse Toytown has a bruised foot and has had to be pulled out of the competition. Given his age - he is 15 - and that the Beijing Olympics are looming, it is not at all the preparation she was hoping for.
She has trained him with infinite care, and yet she still faces her worst fear - that he will be injured, as he was before the Athens Olympics four years ago. This weekend she is competing in Fontainebleau with two of her other horses instead.
The second crisis - and although she is "deeply" in love it is only a secondary priority - is that her lover Mike Tindall faces disqualification from driving after failing a roadside breath test.
Tindall, 29, a rugby player who was one of England's World Cupwinners in 2003, was found to be over the limit a day after a champagne-soaked party at the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
He and Zara went to the private Weighing In Party for jockeys following the racing. It was evidently an extremely jolly affair - some fellow drinkers in Monty's Brasserie in Cheltenham say they saw Tindall, a 16-stone giant of a man, vomiting.
There are reports that his royal girlfriend was so giddy in the convivial atmosphere that she fell off a chair and banged her head.
At around 11am the following day Tindall was stopped in his silver Range Rover and gave a positive breath test. He was arrested and taken to Newbury police station, where he gave a blood test which has been sent for analysis. The results are due at the end of the month.
On the face of it this is a pretty dismaying way for a professional sportsman to behave. No one begrudges a rugby player a bit of a celebration, and of course there is - or was - a great drinking culture in the game, but to be found over the limit well into the following day suggests serious excess.
It's all the more disappointing as Tindall is working his way back to fitness following a horrific injury to his liver which was seriously damaged in a freak accident six weeks ago when he was playing against Wales.
So has Tindall, affectionately known as Iron Mike, been led astray by Zara, 12th in line to the throne but with "a wild streak a mile wide"? And are these two very successful sports people endangering their respective careers with an alcohol-soaked lifestyle?
If you believe family friends and professional associates, what happened at Cheltenham is not --representative of the life the couple lead together.
Although as yet unmarried, they are very much a steady couple,a "Mr and Mrs" in all but name who are deeply committed to a cosy coupledom which embraces long country walks and hearty pub suppers.

She is adored by her whole family, men can't resist her, she is Zara Phillips. The daughter of the Princess Royal who is becoming a shining star in the house of windsor.
In the past Zara has been linked with childhood friend Andrew Tucker who lives on the Gatcombe Park estate
Zara has also been seen with 22 year old National Hunt Jockey Richard Johnson. They were seen at the Hollow Bottom pub together several times. They met each other at David Nicholson yard, the training stable for both Anne, and Zara.
Richard when question of this rumour replyed, "I don't know where all this gossip about Zara and me is coming from, it's all news too me. I know her cause she rides out at the Duke's." (Duke is the nickname for trainer David Nicholson)." He also added that you could never guess that Zara had any connection with Royalty. " She is a happy, fun girl and a good person to get on with. I am friends with her, that's all."

Her boyfriend Mike Tindall was on hand to lift her spirits with a consolatory kiss and hug.
The rugby player joined Zara's mum Princess Anne in supporting his girlfriend on the second day of the three-day competion.
Their relationship is clearly as strong as ever. And they're no doubt looking forward to summer trips abroad to Portugal, where Zara is building a luxury villa.
