Kids Allergy Bracelets for Boys and Girls!: Lauren's Hope and American Medical ID
Posted by org at 8:22 AM

We are in the market for a new kids allergy bracelet and since so many of you from the Nut-Free Mom Facebook page have been asking me for recommendations on this product, I thought it was time for a blog post.
Why have a kids allergy bracelet? Many allergists recommend them for emergencies and I think they are especially important when your child is away from home. Here's how medical ID jewelry works: Every true medical ID bracelet has the "universal symbol" that shows it is medical alert jewelry. That way, if a reaction happens and your child is unconscious or otherwise unable to speak, kids allergy bracelets alert others to your child's specific allergies and medical conditions so that they can get the help they need, right away. In a food allergy emergency, every second counts. Kids allergy bracelets will also include the child's name and a contact phone number.
The top two bracelets you see pictured above are from American Medical ID and they are great for kids, especially boys, with their plain and comfortable design. The bracelets you see pictured are two of their sport band styles, including a "flexible" sports band for even more comfort. If you want kids to agree to wear medical IDs, they have to look good and be comfortable; these are. American Medical ID also makes girls designs in the sport band style; in fact, that's the one my daughter has now (the pink and red hearts, if you click on the web page.)
The second group you see pictured are from Lauren's Hope, a wonderful web site I just learned about at last week's FAAN conference during one of our breakout sessions. Lauren's Hope has beautiful styles for both boys and girls. Because my daughter is 11 and concerned with making a fashion statement, she really loves the styles offered at Lauren's Hope. In fact, we just ordered a kids allergy bracelet AND necklace! I am in love with Lauren's Hope jewelry! My daughter is so excited to receive her attractive and fashionable new allergy jewelry and I'm glad. As long as they have to wear it, they might as well like it, right? Plus, if they like it, they will wear it. Huge.
I love the boys' styles as at Lauren's Hope as well; check out the sports theme and the plain band. They also have dog tag style necklaces that older kids might prefer.
Do you use a medical ID for your child or yourself and if so, which brand/style do you have?
